Channel Freeform ordered production of the pilot for the new drama “The Deep”.
Story hour drama set in Bristol Cove, a coastal town which according to legend is the birthplace of mermaids. When the city comes a mysterious girl, it becomes clear that folklore is not lying, and the events begin to take a serious turn. Inflames the battle between man and sea as wild and beautiful creatures have returned to reclaim their rights on the ocean.
Eric wold (“the View from the top”) and Dean white (“Zoo”) will write the pilot and will share the duties of the Executive producers along with brad Luff, Nate Hopper, and R. D. Robb. Scott Stewart (“Shepherd”) will shoot a pilot episode, and Emily Witsell (“finding Carter”) appointed by the show-run of the TV show.
“When you hear the word “mermaid” there are certain associations, but they are irrelevant to our show – the legend of mermaids come to life in this pilot, ” said Keri Burke, Executive Vice President of the development division of television programs Freeform. The scenario is breathtaking, the story is multifaceted and scary, and we all are excited and eager to begin the study of the nature of obsession and violence in the example of these amazing creatures”.
The production of “The Deep” will begin in September in Vancouver.
