the main competition program of the 73rd Venice film festival. Among the pictures that will compete for “Golden lion” — the new film
Andrei Konchalovsky’s “Paradise“. The program also includes new works
Xavier Dolan, Terrence Malick, Denis Villeneuve, WIM Wenders, Tom Ford, Lava Diaz and Pablo Larrain.
The competition got nineteen paintings. The largest representation received the American cinema — seven films. In creating the five projects took part the French. Italy is represented by three works.
Action historical drama Andrei Konchalovsky’s “Paradise” is set during the Second world war. In the center of the story three characters — a Russian immigrant and member of the French resistance, German officers and French collaborators. In 2014 previous work Konchalovsky’s “White nights postman Alexei Tryapitsyna” was awarded the Venice prize for best Director.

To choose the best will the jury, chaired by Sam Mendes: actress Gemma Arterton, Zhao Wei, Nina Hoss and Chiara Mastroianni, Directors Joshua Oppenheimer and Lorenzo Vigas, screenwriter Giancarlo De Cataldo and Laurie Anderson.
The festival kicks off on August 31 and will last until September 10. The opening film — “La La Land” with Ryan Gosling and Emma stone.
