The municipality of Los Angeles has approved the idea of creating a Museum of George Lucas. The decision was taken unanimously, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Director announced the opening of the Museum of narrative art Lucas (the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art) in January 2017. Then he said that he has chosen Los Angeles, and not a native of San Francisco, which is very flattered by mayor Eric Garcetti and other officials. The project is estimated at $ 1.5 billion.
The construction of the Museum will take about three years and will create thousands of jobs at the time of construction and not less than a thousand permanent posts at the end. The Museum Fund will be at least $ 400 million. Construction will begin later this year, the Museum will be located at exposition Park near the University of southern California, where he studied Lucas.
The total area of the Museum, designed by Chinese architect MA Yansong, will be about seven acres. The space will be divided into three sectors: a history of narrative art, digital art and art of cinema. In the permanent exhibition includes objects from the personal collection of the Director, including artifacts from the filming of “Star wars” and illustrations for children’s books.
