New review: Dunkirk 26.07.2017

Gunshots, explosions, someone falls, someone screams, amidst the chaos and confusion… This is war. But not the kind of war about which usually movies. There are almost no heroes, ready to rush on an embrasure, teeth ready to bite the throats of the enemies. Such a war will not be shown on TV on the 9th of may, is not mentioned when they talk about the exploits of the Union army. Most likely, some even condemned.

It is an escape. To run away, away, away from this madness, to save his life, for she is the most precious thing given to man. And the film is almost entirely about escape. The British troops pushed the German army suffers defeat after defeat and, in the end, unable to withstand the powerful onslaught, forced to retreat. Thousands of soldiers who suffered so much in battle, must quickly cross the Strait to Britain. They need to hurry, because the bullets whistle in the air, planes fly overhead and drop bombs, not sparing a single soul on earth. And the ships that needs to save the lives of soldiers, for some reason all are not in a hurry to sail to Dunkirk, leaving people alone with the nightmare. Then the characters in the movie and begin… to resort to all sorts of tricks just to stay alive.

Yes, the film about the flight, in fact, about the defeat. But he teaches us how even in such a situation when heroism fades into the background, to maintain his humanity, not to turn into an animal, ready to devour anyone, following only the instinct of self-preservation…
