New review: pirates of the Caribbean: Dead men tell no tales 07.06.2017

Special expectations from the new “Pirates…”, I was not. In my opinion, the franchise has become obsolete even in the fourth film, which was somewhat detached from the preceding and which even then would have to stop. One of the key figures of “Pirates…” was always Jack Sparrow played by johnny Depp. But, as revealed in the fourth film, on one only this movie to build, we need other heroes, also involved in the narrative.

In the fifth film we gave these heroes — Henry Turner, who was played by Brenton Thwaites, and Steve Smith performed by Kaya Scodelario. And, paradoxically, Jack Sparrow this time seems far-fetched to the narrative. First, it has become smaller on screen, that someone can be critical. Second, his role in the story is not as great as I would like.

Another point — not knowing how to move the plot on, Disney went back in time. Told where Jack has his compass and, most importantly, where did his nickname. These moments are enjoyable as a fan service and are designed to tie all the movies together. In General, the next appearance of “Pirates” has managed better than the previous film. But there is a suspicion that the franchise has outlived its usefulness. The film is labored and further can be only worse. Time will tell.
