New review: Renaissance 25.11.2017

After reviewing the picture of Richard Linklater’s “A Scanner Darkly”, I was interested in this example of French animation. Among the famous actors we can highlight is that Daniel Craig, but it is not too similar to your character. Unlike “Cloud”, here all the images are created with the use of actors, but the Association is not caused, so you can focus on the characters. However, it is worth noting that most of the characters uninteresting and purely need to interact with the main character.

The main advantage is aesthetics and stunning style of the video. Almost the entire film is made in black and white style, except for the pencil drawings within the narrative — by the way, impressive visual solution. The design pattern was created by Viktor Antonov, who you may know for the games “Half-Life 2” and “Dishonored”. From my point of view — that is the visual style set this movie apart from the crowd and deserves your attention or my positive assessment, because everything else is not so interesting.

The plot, on the one hand, of course, not the most primitive, even with a claim to some depth, but it is straightforward, predictable, and able to impress is that of the child. Of course, this is a cartoon, but the cartoon is still an adult, so the story could be spun with more intrigue and drama. At least, more worthy of the revelation of the characters, though I can’t celebrate the potential of the idea itself. I will end with experiments for some time, since the interesting form in them clearly prevails over the content.
