– Where do you live?
– Come on, you’re not that drunk.
Again in the Top 250 of the 50-ies. Namely, the film “Roman holiday.” Up to this point I was not familiar with this picture, however, several films with Gregory peck and Audrey Hepburn, I came across. So I will now assess probably their most well-known work in the cinema.
The film is actually quite good. Were able then to shoot, without all the technical gimmicks and bells and whistles. In the old days, this kind of films toting realized and acting. That’s what happened here. I will not say that came from the picture in raptures, but a lot of advantages.
The plot is fairly straightforward, but oddly enough, it is impossible to predict what will happen next. It seems that the story does not possess some sort of overly clever moves, but still a modern viewer it’s hard to determine what is to happen in the next moment because of the whimsical main character.
It’s completely understandable why this film won three Oscars. In those early years, this story would be fresh and seemed the embodiment of the ideal of the project, both from the scenario work and acting.
Nothing bad about the movie itself I cannot say, as a good. Maybe at the time he was hit, but after more than sixty years it looks a little boring.
